The Maverick is very robust and well put together. The shooting device is a simple revolver, which is both reliable and effective. Just like with a real revolver, as you cock the gun the revolver turns to line up for the next shot.

Hasbro Nerf N-Strike Maverick Quick firing Rotating Barrel
By constantly pulling on the trigger mechanism it is possible to continually turn the revolver, just like a real gun.
The darts go approximately 10 metres (around 30 to 35 feet) and even at close range the darts don’t hurt (the sensation of impact is very real, only painful if shot in the eye – so wear eye protection, or avoid aiming for the head!)
It’s actually pretty accurate for something so well priced – aim is the name of the game.
The darts are made of foam which are known as WHISTLER DARTS, they “whistle” when fired.
My young son continues to enjoy it immensely and positions himself awaiting my exit from the bathroom, most days !
Little does he know that I have now bought another for myself and fully intend to let battle commence. Great fun!
In my opinion this toy gun is probably the best smaller Nerfgun on offer at the moment.
Great points
- Really, really good fun – indoors or out
- Rapid, accurate fire action.
- The rotating barrel slides out for easy loading. Just load your foam darts, snap into place and you’re ready for action.
Bad points
- Initially I had problems with the gun jamming continuously - on nearly every shot, and the darts didn’t seemed to shoot very far. BUT, PLEASE read this – although I was very annoyed – about to send it back . . . I realized it was operator error ! You just need to push the darts further into the chambers until the rubber tip starts to squash a little. Simples!
- Not enough ammo – so get the big box of cartridges at the same time.
Must say that in our household we are fans of Nerf products, I hope this review of the NerfNStrike is useful . . .
